GEOSET Annual CITO Event
"Cache In Trash Out Event"

April 16 & 17, 2005

The GEOSET members participated in the "Third Annual International Cache In Trash Out Day".  They chose the old Blythe Ferry landing, which, since the construction of the nearby bridge, has become a boat ramp and fishing area. A Cherokee Removal Memorial park and wildlife viewing area are also being constructed nearby. Everyone had alot of fun picking up trash in TVA's newly adopted park. Also, it was nice way to say "Thank You" to the TVA for allowing caches in TVA recreation areas.

"Biggun & Phylene"
We know them as Dan & Linda Card.
Their picture was used on the www.geocaching.com website's cover page!

The group started cleaning at the boat ramp which was used mainly as a dumping station for party fishermen and boaters to dump their empty beer bottles and worm containers at. After the boat ramp area was cleaned, they hit the surrounding "beach" area to tackle the man-made trails and areas used for dumping tires, carpet and low and behold...more empty beer bottles.

Member group names are ... SloPocahontas, Little Joker, Hikenit, Carolina MOOn, Futcher Finders, RickyB, Hilltop Hiker (Matthew Fink), Biggun (Dan Card), Phylene (Linda Card), the MarshMellow Man and AB4N.

The group hopes that when the TVA and Meigs County Parks and Rec and the people who have been dumping their trash at the ramp and beach sees how clean it is now, will be amazed and the dumpers will think twice before throwing out another thing.

KUDOS to all of GEOSET members for a successful CITO event!
